Happy Birthday to me!

Today I got my first cake from "Sarah's Piece of Cake" for my birthday (from my wonderful husband).  Sarah is sooo talented- don't you agree?  Today was my birthday and though I spent it with my foot in a large brace from a presumed stress fracture it was a great day!
I have been working hard the last month making up embroidered baby clothes. Went to a vendor fair on Friday where I made some new contacts and hopefully some new business will come my way soon.  I have also been showcasing on Etsy for more exposure.

On the Runway

Here is my new "supermodel" wearing her new dragonfly dress.  Her mom says she waltzed around the house saying "I so pretty" and I have to agree!  Like all supermodels, she will get to keep any of the clothes she models (if her mom and she like them)

Aprons and Bows

This week was spent making more aprons and coming up with a new dress.  I decided on this aline style and added piping to enhance the lines of the dress.  The brown bow picks up the brown in the daisies.  This is an over the head style dress- the buttons on the front are decorative only.

These aprons are great for coloring or art projects or just wearing in the kitchen when helping mom and dad cook!  The pockets are stitched to hold crayons if desired.

Fluttering Dragonflies

I found some beautiful fabric recently that I wanted to make a dress from.  I came up with a simple a-line dress and embroidered a dragonfly on the bodice.  I made this one for a cute little red-headed 5 year old that looks great in aqua blue.  Hope she likes it!!

Sarah's Piece of Cake

I have a friend Sarah who makes the most amazing cakes.  She is truly an "Ace of Cakes" in the making.  I made her an apron to wear that advertises her business.  Please visit her blog (it is at the top of my blog- Sarah's Piece of Cake) and don't be afraid to order one of her cakes- they are not only amazing to look at they are delicious too!

Superhero Capes

Last week I kept busy making superhero capes!  A friend of mine has 2 boys that love to play star wars, batman, etc.  She asked if I could come up with a cape for them to wear since she was always tying blankets around them.  I found this adorable ray gun design and fashioned a black cape to embroider it on.  I think it came out great!  Hope the kids like them.

Opening Day!!

I'm excited about starting a blog about my new love of embroidery!  Back in Dember I bought a new machine and I haven't stopped since.  I keep returning to Thimble Pleasures in Chapel Hill, NC for "just one more roll of thread" and coming out with much more.  Now, that never happens to anyone else does it?  Thimble Pleasures is one of my favorite stores.  It's primarily a quilt store but it has the most beautiful fabrics I have seen and the staff is so friendly and helpful.   Special thanks to Celeste who let me borrow an embroidery machine until my new one was delivered.  I guess she knew there would be no turning back for me after that !
I have been busy with childrens item as my initial focus.  The crayon aprons I have created are so cute!  They have stitched pockets for holding crayons or pencils/markers and the kids look so cute wearing them.  They also keep their clothes semi-clean.  I can personalize each one with a name or anything else you'd like.
A friend of mine liked my crayon books and ordered one for her little daughter Grace.  The books hold a coloring book and/or pad of paper and have stitched pockets for holding crayons.  They are great for taking to a restaurant or anywhere you go where your child may need some quiet "entertainment"
